A sex-trafficking investigation by the Riverside County Anti-Human Trafficking Task Force (RCAHT) focusing on the cities of Palm Springs, Indio and Desert Hot Springs has resulted in the arrest of an Indio man.

Dewayne Williams, 32, was arrested April 21 on charges related to human trafficking as a result of the investigation that began on March 4, a recent press release from the Riverside County Sheriff's Department said.

"On April 21, 2022, the U.S. Marshall Service Pacific South West Task Force arrested Williams at the San Ysidro crossing port in San Diego County for human trafficking of a minor, pandering of minor, lewd acts with a minor and inducing a minor to consume narcotics (Fentanyl)," the release said. "Williams was transported to the Central Jail in San Diego County."

RCAHT also reminded parents and guardians to monitor who their children have contact with online, any social media or gaming platforms they frequent and their general online activity, the release said.

First created in March 2020, RCAHT is a multidisciplinary task force that investigates crimes in the eastern region of the Coachella Valley related to force, coercion or fraud.
