The City of Rancho Mirage has issued the following press release:

The City of Rancho Mirage continues to save water by partnering with the Coachella Valley Water District (CVWD) to offer rebates to our residents, HOAs, and commercial centers looking to convert from turf to desertscape or artificial grass.

CVWD rebate: $3.00/sq.ft. for residential, commercial & HOA; City of Rancho Mirage rebate: $3.00/sq.ft for residential and $1.00/sq.ft for commercial & HOA.

In addition to this rebate, HOA/Commercial projects that are required by the City to use a landscape architect may be eligible for reimbursement of these costs from the City, for up to an additional $6,000.

The Rancho Mirage Turf Rebate Program became effective upon approval by the City Council on July 7, 2022, with an initial allocation of $500,000.

Due to the popularity of this program, the City Council approved additional allocations for a total of $2,500,000, which according to CVWD, will save over 70,000,000 gallons of water per year.

The purpose of this program is to further enhance water conservation efforts after the recent State ban on the watering of decorative grass and its call to reduce outdoor water usage.

Interested applicants can find more information and the application on CVWD's website at cvwd.org/Rebates.
