Perris, Calif. – The Riverside County Sheriff’s Office, Perris Station, is urging the public to celebrate Cinco de Mayo responsibly by planning ahead and designating a sober driver.

Sergeant Jeremy Bracey emphasized the importance of responsible celebration, stating, "Don’t put yourself and others on the road at risk by driving impaired." He advised those planning to indulge in a drink or two to "leave your keys at home and designate a sober driver."

Additionally, the Perris Sheriff Station cautioned that impairment can result from substances beyond alcohol. "Alcohol is not the only substance that can cause impairment," they noted. "Marijuana, prescription medications or over-the-counter drugs may also impair." They encouraged individuals to conduct research and understand how various substances can affect their driving abilities.

The funding for this initiative is made possible through a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, in partnership with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
