Travelers in the Coachella Valley now have more flight options as Alaska Airlines extends its Palm Springs to Portland route to operate year-round. Previously, this service was seasonal and scheduled to end in June. This change marks a significant development in Palm Springs International Airport’s (PSP) expansion of year-round air services.

PSP Executive Director Harry Barrett, Jr. expressed enthusiasm about the extension: “This is a big win for Palm Springs and the entire Coachella Valley. The demand for year-round connectivity keeps growing, and Alaska’s decision to extend this route is a testament to that. More full-time options mean greater convenience for travelers and another step forward in making PSP a truly year-round gateway. With one-stop access from PSP to more than 300 global destinations, we continue to expand our reach like never before.”

Alaska Airlines will operate Embraer 175s and Boeing 737s on this route, offering first-class and premium economy seating options. The summer schedule includes flights departing from Palm Springs at 7:00 a.m., arriving in Portland at 9:30 a.m., with return flights departing Portland at 5:45 p.m., arriving back in Palm Springs at 8:15 p.m.

Palm Springs International Airport serves as an essential hub for the region, having accommodated over 3.2 million passengers in 2024. It offers nonstop services to various U.S. cities including Atlanta, Chicago O’Hare, Dallas/Fort Worth, Denver, New York JFK, and Seattle among others, along with Canadian cities such as Calgary and Vancouver.

The airport is operated by the City of Palm Springs and is supported by airlines like Air Canada, American Airlines, Delta Air Lines, Southwest Airlines, United Airlines among others.
