Animal Samaritans has announced the expansion of its Free Spay & Neuter Program to include residents of La Quinta. The organization has dedicated $100,000 to provide free spay and neuter surgeries for eligible pet owners throughout the Coachella Valley, offering these services in different cities each month.
The program has already been implemented in Cathedral City, Desert Hot Springs, unincorporated areas, and Palm Desert over the past several months. With the latest phase, La Quinta residents can now apply for free vouchers at La Quinta City Hall on Calle Tampico. Applicants must show valid photo identification with proof of address and income. There are 50 vouchers available on a first-come, first-served basis.
Eligibility for the program requires residency in La Quinta and a household income not exceeding $5,000 per month for single-person households or $8,000 per month for multi-person households. Each voucher covers the cost of spay or neuter surgery, post-surgical pain medication, an e-collar for pets, and a microchip provided by the City of La Quinta.
Surgeries will be performed at Animal Samaritans’ Veterinary Clinic in Thousand Palms. Recipients are required to contact the clinic directly with their voucher information to schedule appointments.
“This program not only helps individual families and their pets,” said Tom Snyder, Animal Samaritans CEO, “but also lowers shelter euthanasia rates, prevents unwanted litters, and supports healthier, happier pets across the Coachella Valley.”
