Augustine Casino announced on Apr. 7 the opening of a new exhibition at Seven Feathers Gallery, showcasing artwork from eighth-grade students at Toro Canyon Middle School in Thermal. The exhibit, titled “Mi Gente, Mi Tierra” (My People, My Land), is now available for public viewing and features student perspectives on the Coachella Valley’s culture and landscape.
The exhibition highlights the importance of local heritage and community connection by presenting family traditions, festivals, and stories passed down through generations alongside depictions of the desert environment and agriculture that shape daily life in the East Valley.
“We are incredibly moved by the talent and perspective these students have brought to Seven Feathers,” said Lindsay Grant, chief marketing officer at Augustine Casino. “The East Valley is a community built on hard work and rich traditions. Seeing these students honor the East Valley so beautifully reminds us why we created this gallery; to provide a platform for the authentic voices of the Coachella Valley.”
Typically featuring established local professionals, Seven Feathers Gallery has expanded its focus with this exhibit by inviting young artists from Toro Canyon Middle School. The restaurant continues its mission as a space where dining intersects with local culture.
The Greater Coachella Valley Chamber contributes to regional economic vitality by promoting tourism and hosting events that connect community members according to its official website. Guests can view “Mi Gente, Mi Tierra” while enjoying made-to-order dishes at Seven Feathers Restaurant within Augustine Casino. Admission is open to all restaurant guests or casino patrons aged 21 or older.
Looking ahead, initiatives like this exhibition reflect ongoing efforts in the region to strengthen ties between youth creativity and broader economic development.
