The Living Desert Zoo and Gardens has welcomed two orphaned bobcat kittens, David and JoAnn, to their Eagle Canyon habitat. The kittens arrived after the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife contacted the zoo in late spring 2025 about their need for immediate care.

Renee Barnett and Wendy Enright, both animal care team managers at The Living Desert, traveled to pick up the kittens within 48 hours of receiving the call. Their efforts ensured that David and JoAnn were brought safely to their new environment.

According to The Living Desert, “Thanks to everyone’s quick action, compassion, and expert care, David and JoAnn are safe, healthy, and speeding around their habitat at The Living Desert. If you’ve visited recently, you’ve likely seen them playing, exploring, and discovering, getting bigger every day!”

The arrival of these bobcat kittens highlights the ongoing work by wildlife organizations in rescuing animals in need of specialized care.
