The Coachella Valley Healthcare Clinic, a free service, is set to arrive in Indio next month. This initiative will see volunteers from California CareForce providing dental, vision and medical services at no cost to patients.
As per a press release issued by the City of La Quinta, the complimentary clinic will take place at the Empire Polo Club in Indio from March 8-10, operating between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. The gates for parking will open at 5:30 a.m., with patients being attended to on a “first come, first served” basis.
The press release further elaborates that the medical services on offer include general exams, blood pressure and blood glucose screenings among other available services. Dental provisions encompass teeth cleanings, X-rays, fillings and extractions. Vision services include eye examinations, eye health checks and prescription glasses which will be manufactured on-site.
According to the same press release, California CareForce does not require any documentation such as immigration status or proof of insurance, employment, income or residency. They do not even ask for an ID. However, they request patients to bring along a list of medications they are currently taking as well as food and water.
California CareForce’s website reveals that it is part of the California Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons. It comprises volunteer healthcare professionals, community leaders and citizens who aim to provide access to quality healthcare regardless of background, income level or employment status. This group organizes free pop-up clinics throughout the state annually. Since its inception in 2011, it has enlisted over 20,000 volunteers and provided free medical, dental and vision services to more than 42,000 individuals.
