The California Desert Grape Administrative Committee (CDGAC) is seeking nominations for its board members, with elections set to fill positions for a four-year term starting immediately after the certification of the election and ending December 31, 2028.
The committee is composed of ten members and ten alternates. Four of each will represent area grape producers or their employees, another four will represent handlers or their employees, one member and alternate may be either a producer or handler, and one member and alternate will represent the public.
The CDGAC operates under the authority of the Agricultural Marketing Agreement Act of 1937. This federal law allows industry-driven marketing orders that enable producers and handlers to collaborate on programs that might not be feasible individually. The Agricultural Marketing Service (AMS) oversees these programs to ensure fiscal responsibility and integrity.
AMS policy encourages diversity among boards, councils, and committees it supervises. This includes seeking members with varied experience in production methods, distribution strategies, marketing approaches, as well as individuals from historically underserved communities.
A meeting to conduct nominations and elections will take place at 3 p.m. on Wednesday, September 3, 2025. It will be held at the CDGAC office located at 39-205 Leopard St. Ste E in Palm Desert, California, with an option to attend via Zoom.
Individuals interested in submitting a nomination or seeking information about the meeting can contact CDGAC Manager Kristy Kneiding by phone at (760) 342-4385 or email [email protected].
