The 8th Annual Taste of Jalisco Festival is scheduled for this weekend. The City of Cathedral City has utilized social media to remind Coachella Valley residents about the imminent festival, which celebrates its sister city, Tequila, Jalisco, Mexico.

As per a Facebook post by the City of Cathedral City, the Taste of Jalisco Festival, sponsored by Agua Caliente Casinos, will take place from February 2 to February 4 in downtown Cathedral City. Residents of Cathedral City can gain free admission on February 2 with a valid driver’s license and utility bill.

The Taste of Jalisco website informs that the event promises an array of festivities such as live music and dance performances, carnival rides and games, and a tequila-tasting competition. Additionally, it will showcase an artisan craft market, a car show, and food vendors serving authentic cuisine. During the evenings of February 3 and 4, Lucha Libre wrestling matches featuring wrestlers from around the globe will entertain audiences at the Cathedral City Community Amphitheater.

The same website further reveals that on February 2 at 9 p.m., the Taste of Jalisco After Party will commence at the Agua Caliente Casino Cathedral City. The afterparty is open to all with free admission and includes a performance by Nacho Bustillos accompanied by a full Mariachi Band. Attendees can also enjoy Taste of Jalisco-themed food and beverage specials.

According to information available on the Cathedral City Sister Cities website, Cathedral City officially established a Sister City agreement with the City of Tequila in Jalisco state, Mexico in 1996. This partnership allows both cities to exchange best practices, educational opportunities for youth, donations of firefighting equipment, firefighter training as well as culture and art. Their relationship was further strengthened through a Sister City re-signing ceremony in 2016.
