With a new coronavirus subvariant on the rise in other parts of the nation, Riverside University Health System and Cathedral City are teaming up to offer COVID-19 vaccinations on Thursday, May 5.
Although the subvariant is not yet confirmed in Southern California, this vaccination clinic is a step toward preparedness, a Cathedral City Council article reports. The clinic is scheduled for 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. at the Cathedral City Public Library, located at 33520 Date Palm Dr.
“With the new subvariant of the coronavirus, called BA.2, spreading in other parts of the United States, it is only a matter of time before it reaches Southern California, if it has not arrived already,” Chris Parma, the city’s communications and event manager, said.
Available at the clinic will be first and second doses of both Moderna and Pfizer, as well as additional doses and boosters. It should be noted that the Pfizer boosters will only be on hand for those 12 years and older and Moderna only for those 18 years and older. Those receiving vaccines must meet the qualifications set by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
