The Cathedral City Police Department (CCPD) arrested two men after a shooting occurred inside a Cathedral City Applebee’s, resulting in the death of 31-year-old Ernesto Lazcano Arroyo, a press release reported.

“CCPD detectives worked with the Riverside County Gang Impact Team to conduct surveillance at a residence 69100 block of Dinah Shore Drive and Willie R. Bustamante (Cathedral City resident) was arrested for the homicide,” according to the release. “A search warrant was executed at his residence. Willie Bustamante was later booked into the Larry D. Smith Detention Center for murder. Antonio Portillo (Cathedral City resident) was also arrested for the homicide.”

CCPD responded to the Applebee’s located on Date Palm Drive at approximately 11:31 p.m. regarding an altercation that had broken out and involved numerous people inside the restaurant, Patch reported. During the fight, one person, who remains unidentified at this time, pulled out a firearm and shot Arroyo. Paramedics transported Arroyo to a hospital where he died from his injuries.

CCPD is actively investigating this case and asks anyone who may have information related to this incident to contact the Cathedral City Police Department at 760-770-0300 or via the CCPD website.
