The Central Division secured a victory in the 2025 AHL All-Star Challenge with a 2-1 shootout win against the Atlantic Division. The event, presented by Spotlight 29 Casino, took place at Acrisure Arena, home to the Coachella Valley Firebirds.

Kevin Korchinski of the Rockford IceHogs was named most valuable player after contributing four points during the round-robin games and scoring the decisive goal in the shootout. Texas Stars rookie Justin Hryckowian added one goal and three assists, while Iowa Wild’s Brendan Gaunce scored three goals for the Central team. This marks their first win since 2017.

Goalkeepers Sebastian Cossa from Grand Rapids Griffins and Matthew Murray from Milwaukee Admirals allowed only seven goals throughout the night. Austin Watson of Grand Rapids also contributed two goals, aiding in a comeback that led to their spot in the final.

Owen Beck celebrated his 21st birthday by scoring three goals for the North Division. Dalibor Dvorsky from Springfield Thunderbirds led his Atlantic Division team with two goals and an assist. Rory Kerins of Calgary Wranglers and Samuel Fagemo of Ontario Reign each scored twice for Pacific Division.

The challenge featured 21 former first- or second-round NHL draft picks and included 19 players who have participated in NHL games this season.

As teams prepare for further competition, attention turns back to regular season play as part of the American Hockey League’s 89th season leading up to the Calder Cup Playoffs.
