The City of Palm Springs has announced a forthcoming Parks & Recreation Master Plan community meeting. The city is inviting residents to provide their insights on the master plan document, which is currently under revision.

A press release from the City of Palm Springs reveals that the meeting will take place on February 22, 2024, from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the Palm Springs Pavilion located at 401 S. Pavilion Way.

According to the same press release, Kounkuey Design Initiative will lead the meeting, offering both informational and interactive sessions. Three additional workshops are scheduled in the following months, providing further opportunities for those unable to attend the February gathering.

The city perceives community feedback as crucial to the parks and recreation master planning process, as stated in the press release. The plan articulates a vision and devises a roadmap that mirrors the needs and priorities of both the city and its inhabitants. “With your input, together, we can make our Parks and Recreation system more accessible, sustainable, and enjoyable for everyone,” said Wise, director of Parks and Recreation for the city.

As per information on the City of Palm Springs website, in 2023, the City of Palm Springs Parks & Recreation Commission initiated an update of the city’s 2014 Parks & Recreation Master Plan. This plan outlines intentions for maintaining services such as parks, hiking and equestrian trails, multipurpose trails, recreation facilities and special events for residents. It was this plan that replaced the 2006 Parks & Recreation Strategic Plan.
