On May 3, 2024, one person was arrested for DUI and 17 citations were issued at a DUI checkpoint in Perris, California. The checkpoint, located at Perris Blvd. and Business Park Dr., was operational from 8 p.m. to 2 a.m.

According to the report, 17 drivers were cited for various violations such as operating a vehicle unlicensed or with a suspended/revoked license out of the 512 vehicles that were contacted. In total, 54 vehicles underwent secondary screening, four field sobriety tests were conducted, and two vehicles were towed as a result of the checkpoint.

The City of Perris determines the locations for DUI checkpoints based on reported incidents of impaired driving-related crashes. The primary goal of these checkpoints is to enhance public safety by removing suspected impaired drivers from the roads.

Funding for the recent checkpoint was made possible through a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, in association with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

Looking ahead, the City of Perris has announced that the next DUI checkpoint is scheduled for August 30, 2024.
