The Coachella Valley Firebirds have announced the re-signing of defenseman Charlie Wright to a one-year American Hockey League (AHL) contract for the 2025-26 season.

Wright appeared in 21 games for the Firebirds last season, recording four assists. He also played 35 games with the Kansas City Mavericks in the ECHL, where he contributed 17 points and helped the team reach the Western Conference Finals.

Originally from Olds, Alberta, Wright joined the Firebirds as a rookie after five seasons with the Saskatoon Blades in the Western Hockey League (WHL). During his time with Saskatoon, he collected 103 points over 256 regular season games and served as an alternate captain for two seasons. He also participated in 39 postseason games with the Blades.

Brennan Sonne, who is now an assistant coach with the Firebirds, coached Wright during his final three WHL seasons with Saskatoon.

The current list of signed players for next season includes Ian McKinnon and Gustav Olofsson on two-year contracts, while Jack LaFontaine and Charlie Wright are signed to one-year deals.

Season ticket memberships for the upcoming season are available through CVFirebirds.com. Premium seating options at Acrisure Arena are accepting deposits for exclusive areas. Group ticket discounts are also being offered for groups of ten or more attendees.
