The Coachella Valley Firebirds have signed defenseman Zach Uens to a one-year contract for the 2025-26 American Hockey League (AHL) season.
Uens, 24, comes to the Firebirds after playing last season with the ECHL’s Savannah Ghost Pirates. He has appeared in 27 AHL games over parts of three seasons with the Charlotte Checkers. Uens also played two seasons with the Florida Everblades in the ECHL, contributing to their consecutive Kelly Cup championships.
Before his professional career, Uens played collegiate hockey at Merrimack College, where he recorded 44 points in 82 games and was nominated for the Hobey Baker Award as NCAA’s Top Collegiate Player during the 2021-22 season.
With this signing, Uens joins a roster that includes Ian McKinnon (two-year), Gustav Olofsson (two-year), Jack LaFontaine (one-year), Charlie Wright (one-year), Landon McCallum (one-year), Jakov Novak (one-year), and Jackson Berezowksi (one-year).
The Firebirds are currently offering various ticket packages for fans ahead of the upcoming season. Options include full season, half season, and nine-game plans. Season ticket memberships are now available for purchase. Premium seating options at Acrisure Arena are accepting deposits for club areas. Group tickets are also being offered at discounted rates for groups of ten or more.
