The Coachella Valley Firebirds have signed forward Jakov Novak to a one-year contract for the 2025-26 American Hockey League (AHL) season.
Novak arrives after two seasons in the Montreal Canadiens organization, where he played for both the Laval Rocket in the AHL and the Trois-Rivieres Lions in the ECHL. Last season, Novak contributed to the Lions’ first Kelly Cup Championship, tallying 57 points with 25 goals and 32 assists in 53 games. He also added 11 points during the postseason.
Before his professional career, Novak played five seasons of NCAA hockey at Bentley University and Northeastern University. Over 161 Division-I games, he recorded a total of 91 points. Earlier in his career, he played for the Janesville Jets in the North American Hockey League (NAHL), earning Most Valuable Player honors by leading that league in goals and points during the 2017-18 season. Novak is originally from Windsor, Ontario.
Other players signed by Coachella Valley for upcoming seasons include Ian McKinnon and Gustav Olofsson on two-year deals, as well as Jack LaFontaine, Charlie Wright, Landon McCallum, and Jakov Novak on one-year contracts.
Season ticket memberships are available for purchase for fans interested in attending Firebirds games during the upcoming season. Premium seating options with VIP amenities at Acrisure Arena are also open for deposits. Group ticket discounts are offered to groups of ten or more attendees.
