The Coachella Valley Firebirds defeated the Calgary Wranglers 4-1 on March 8 at Acrisure Arena, completing a weekend sweep of their American Hockey League opponent. Eduard Sale scored twice, while Kaden Hammell and Logan Morrison each added goals for the Firebirds.

The win is significant as it improves the Firebirds’ season record to 30-20-5-0 and builds momentum ahead of their upcoming home-and-home series against the Ontario Reign, which begins Friday, March 13 at Acrisure Arena with a scheduled puck drop at 7 p.m. Pacific Time.

The Firebirds outshot Calgary by a wide margin, finishing with a total of 36 shots to the Wranglers’ 16. Morrison recorded four points over the weekend and scored his team-leading 26th goal of the season during Sunday’s game. Hammell netted what would become the game-winning goal early in the second period. Sale opened and closed scoring for Coachella Valley, marking his first career multi-goal game.
