The Rotary Club of Indio will host its 28th Annual Math Field Day at John Glenn Middle School in Indio, California on Saturday, May 3, 2025. The event will take place from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. The Math Field Day has been a regular event since 1995, with the only interruptions occurring during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Middle school students from all three Coachella Valley school districts will participate in the competition. These students will work through a variety of math problems and collaborate in teams to highlight their math abilities. One aim of the event is to foster interest in mathematics among Coachella Valley middle school students. Preparation for the day starts months ahead of the event.

During this year’s award ceremony, participants will hear from Heather Reylek, an alumna of La Quinta High School who later completed her studies at the College of the Desert. Reylek will discuss how mathematics is integrated into her work as a mechanic in auto racing.

Math Field Day is open to the public and is designed to be a family-friendly event. The Rotary Club of Indio encourages community members to attend, observe, and cover the event.
