On January 29, 2006, deputies from the Moreno Valley Sheriff’s Station responded to a shooting near Pepper Court and John F. Kennedy Drive in Moreno Valley. Upon arrival, they found two men inside a vehicle with gunshot wounds. The victims were identified as Louie Granado, 24, and his brother Glenn Granado, 34, both residents of Moreno Valley.

The Riverside Sheriff’s Central Homicide Unit took over the investigation. Richard Ferris, now 50 and also from Moreno Valley, was identified as a suspect after several years of investigation. However, there was not enough evidence at that time to file charges against him and the case went cold.

In April 2025, the Riverside Sheriff’s Central Homicide Unit – Cold Case Unit reopened the case after finding new information. On August 1, 2025, with support from the Riverside County Sheriff’s Major Crimes Unit, Ferris was arrested without incident in Boyle Heights and booked into the Robert Presley Detention Center on murder charges.

“This investigation is currently ongoing, and no further information will be released at this time.”

Anyone with information about this case is encouraged to contact Lead Investigator Dan Brown or Master Investigator Dario Hernandez of the Central Homicide Unit at 951–955–2777.
