College of the Desert has announced a special screening event on March 25, showcasing three films led by its film program. The works feature emerging filmmaker Niklas Limbach and were highlighted in a recent press release.
According to the College of the Desert’s film program, alongside alumni producer Lauge Bacca, the screening will present three short films by Limbach, a 21-year-old filmmaker from Germany. These films focus on the region’s landscapes and perspectives from both local and international students. “Homecoming” follows a man confronting his past and seeking forgiveness from his grandmother after years away. “Redemptori Diaboli” tells the story of two teenage gangsters unraveling a mysterious notary’s secrets. “Art and Attraction” explores the complexities of a budding romance disrupted by misunderstanding. The screening is scheduled for March 25 at 5:30 PM at Pollock Theater.
The Film Production Associate of Science Degree at College of the Desert is described as a two-year, 60-unit program aimed at providing students with foundational skills in filmmaking, including screenwriting, cinematography, editing, and directing. According to College of the Desert, this program offers hands-on experience in various aspects of film production such as post-production, video journalism, and social media marketing. Graduates are prepared to work on film crews, produce independent projects, or establish their own film-related businesses. The program also serves as a pathway for further study in film production and helps students develop a portfolio of short films and other projects for professional use.
