Colorado River Sheriff’s deputies arrest man for firearm and narcotics possession in Blythe

Deputies from the Colorado River Sheriff’s Station Special Enforcement Team made an arrest following a traffic stop in Blythe on Friday, September 12, 2025. The incident occurred in the 500 block of North 9th Street and Chanslorway.

During the stop, a passenger identified as Joshua Hampton, age 48, informed deputies that he was carrying a firearm. Deputies detained Hampton without incident and recovered a loaded .22 caliber handgun from his person. Further investigation led to the discovery of approximately 8 grams of suspected methamphetamine in Hampton’s possession.

Hampton was booked into the Blythe Jail on charges of possessing a loaded firearm and felony possession of narcotics. Authorities stated that the investigation is ongoing and no further details are currently available.
