Death of Downey teenager investigated after incident on I-15 near Murrieta

A 14-year-old male from Downey, identified as Mina Sabet, died on August 23, 2025, following an incident on the southbound Interstate 15 in Murrieta. The Riverside County Coroner’s Office confirmed the death occurred at approximately 9:45 p.m., with the injury taking place minutes earlier at around 9:33 p.m. The location of both the injury and death was about one mile north of Winchester Road.

The California Highway Patrol – Temecula is handling the investigation under case number 9685-2025-01365. Next of kin have been notified.

“For further information refer to investigating agency,” stated officials in a brief comment.

No additional details regarding the circumstances of the incident were provided by authorities.
