Joe De La Riva, a 59-year-old resident of Thermal, California, died on August 22, 2025. According to the Riverside County Coroner’s office, De La Riva sustained injuries at the intersection of Calhoun Street and 52nd Avenue in Coachella on the night of August 21. He was transported to Desert Regional Medical Center in Palm Springs, where he was pronounced dead at 10:35 a.m. the following day.
The California Highway Patrol’s Indio Station is investigating the incident under case number 250821IC0101. The coroner has notified next of kin. All further inquiries are being directed to the investigating agency.
