Death of Joseph Cobb under investigation by California Highway Patrol

A 38-year-old Hemet resident, Joseph Cobb, died on August 29, 2025. According to the Riverside County Coroner’s Office, Cobb was injured at approximately 8:36 p.m. at the intersection of South State Street and West Chambers Street in Hemet. He was pronounced dead at the same location at 8:51 p.m.

The California Highway Patrol – San Gorgonio is handling the investigation into the incident. The case number associated with this investigation is 9655-2025-01405. Authorities have notified Cobb’s next of kin.

Officials have advised that further information about the case can be obtained from the investigating agency.
