Death of Laura Harker under investigation by California Highway Patrol

Laura Harker, a 67-year-old resident of Desert Hot Springs, died on September 7, 2025. According to the Riverside County Coroner’s Office, Harker sustained injuries at approximately 7:05 a.m. on Pierson Boulevard, about 100 yards west of Western Avenue in Desert Hot Springs. She was transported to Desert Regional Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead at 7:39 a.m.

The California Highway Patrol-Indio is conducting the investigation into the incident under case number 250907IC-0036. The coroner’s office has notified Harker’s next of kin.

Authorities have directed all inquiries regarding the case to the investigating agency.
