Death of Menifee man investigated after I-10 incident near Desert Hot Springs

On September 8, 2025, Alvin Cunningham, a 47-year-old resident of Menifee, California, died following an incident on the westbound Interstate 10 at the Indian Canyon Drive off-ramp near Desert Hot Springs. The Riverside County Coroner’s Office reported that Cunningham was injured at approximately 1:44 p.m. and was later pronounced dead at Desert Regional Medical Center in Palm Springs at 2:42 p.m.

The California Highway Patrol-Indio is conducting the investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident. The coroner’s office confirmed that next of kin have been notified.

Authorities advise that all inquiries regarding this case should be directed to the investigating agency.
