Death of Ontario man under investigation after Jurupa Valley roadway incident

A 23-year-old man from Ontario, California, died on October 15, 2025, following an incident in Jurupa Valley. The Riverside County Sheriff’s Office identified the deceased as Daniel Melgar.

According to the coroner’s report, Melgar sustained fatal injuries at approximately 7:20 p.m. on Market Street, about 111 feet south of 24th Street in Jurupa Valley. He was pronounced dead at the scene twelve minutes later at 7:32 p.m. Authorities have notified his next of kin.

The Riverside County Sheriff’s Office – Jurupa Valley is handling the investigation under case number JV252880171. Officials advise that all inquiries regarding this incident be directed to the investigating agency.
