A swift response allowed deputies to apprehend a burglary suspect while he was fleeing Sunday from a targeted Temecula business, the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department said.
Responding at 1:20 a.m., deputies from the Southwest Sheriff’s Station reached the scene within minutes of the alert, and after a brief foot pursuit, arrested a 38-year-old Oxnard man without incident. They also recovered all merchandise stolen from the business located in the 31000 block of Temecula Parkway, according to Deputy Sgt. Joe Narciso in a news release.
“The suspect was identified as Michael Terry Washington, a 38-year-old resident of Oxnard, California,” Sgt. Narciso said in the release. “Washington was arrested for burglary and possession of burglary tools.”
Subsequently, Washington was booked at the Cois Byrd Detention Center. The case is still ongoing, and those with information are asked to contact Deputy Salem at the Southwest Sheriff’s Station at 951-696-3000.
Additionally, this case falls under “Community Policing,” which involves a partnership between law enforcement and community members.
“Business owners and residents are encouraged to report criminal activity directly to law enforcement by calling Sheriff’s Dispatch at 951-776-1099, or by calling 911 if the matter is an emergency,” the release said.
