Desert Recreation District is offering youth a free bike trip to Coronado

The Desert Recreation District has announced that it will be hosting a free Coronado Bayshore Bikeway Coastal Ride this month, inviting young people aged between 10 and 17 to participate.

In a post by the Desert Recreation District, it was stated that the trip is scheduled for January 15. The district also highlighted that there would be a mandatory meetup on January 11 at 3:30 p.m., although the location for this meeting has yet to be disclosed.

According to the event announcement on the Desert Recreation District’s website, participants will have the opportunity to ride down the Coronado Bayshore Bikeway. This route offers views of both the Pacific Ocean and San Diego Bay. Most of the journey will take place on flat bike lanes with minimal vehicle traffic. The district confirmed that bikes, helmets, transportation, and lunch would all be provided.

The district’s website further detailed the itinerary for the day: Participants are expected to depart from Indio Community Center at 8 a.m.; they will then arrive at Coronado Bayshore Bikeway and ride alongside Silver Strand via Coronado Bayshore Bikeway; lunch will be taken at a park; finally, participants should expect to return to Indio Community Center by 4 p.m.

Finally, according to additional information available on the district’s website, more coastal bike trips are planned for February and March. These include Dana Point on March 6 (ages 10-17), La Jolla on February 12 (all ages), and La Jolla again on February 22 (seniors). All these trips are free of charge.
