Today, Congressman Ken Calvert (CA-41) joined a bipartisan majority in the House of Representatives to pass H.R. 7006, the Financial Services and General Government and National Security, Department of State, and Related Programs Appropriations Act. The bill passed with a vote of 341 to 79.

“As a senior member of the House Appropriations Committee, I was proud to support another package of bills that fund important priorities for our region, state, and country,” said Rep. Calvert. “The bill passed today addresses longstanding frustrations of Eastvale residents and businesses, including not having a post office in the city, as well as their lack of a single, unique zip code. To combat fentanyl and other drugs in our communities, the bill provides critical resources for law enforcement agencies at all levels of government.”

Among the provisions Rep. Calvert highlighted are directives for the U.S. Postal Service to analyze options for building or acquiring a new post office in Eastvale and to review zip code assignments that overlap municipal boundaries. The review aims to find solutions for cities like Eastvale that currently do not have a unique zip code.

The legislation also encourages the General Services Agency to prioritize feasibility studies related to the Riverside Courthouse project.

Additionally, $298.6 million is allocated for the High Intensity Drug Trafficking Program to support law enforcement efforts in key regions affected by drug trafficking. The bill maintains $1.4 billion for International Narcotics Control and Law Enforcement programs with increased funding aimed at countering fentanyl.

Ken Calvert has represented California’s 41st District in Congress since 1993 (https://calvert.house.gov/about). He was born in Corona, California in 1953 and continues to reside there. Calvert earned his BA from San Diego State University in 1975.
