On October 2, 2025, a fatal single-vehicle crash occurred on Goetz Road, south of Mapes Road in Perris. Deputies from the Perris Sheriff’s Station responded to the scene at 5:51 p.m. after receiving reports of a major injury collision. Upon arrival, they found the driver unresponsive on the side of the road with significant injuries. The driver was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Perris Station Reconstruction Team took over the investigation. According to preliminary findings, the vehicle was heading southbound on Goetz Road from Mapes Road and approached stopped traffic. To avoid a collision, it swerved across the northbound lane and went down an embankment, rolling before coming to rest. It is not yet known if drugs or alcohol played a role in this incident. The investigation is ongoing and no further details are available at this time.
Authorities have not released the identity of the deceased pending notification of next of kin. Goetz Road between Mapes Road and Fieldstone Drive was temporarily closed while investigators processed the scene and collected evidence.
