The Firebirds joined forces with Eisenhower Health’s Lucy Curci Cancer Center for their third annual Hockey Fights Cancer Night. The event, held on Wednesday night, raised $27,527 through a specialty jersey auction supported by fan donations and online bidding. The funds will benefit the One Valley Foundation, which supports local cancer charities and research.

Fans participated in an evening dedicated to supporting patients, medical staff, and families affected by cancer. Activities included “I Fight For” sign stations during pre-game events and warm-up specialty jerseys available for auction alongside other team-signed items.

The ceremonial puck drop honored Cathy Dravis, an inaugural Acrisure Arena usher who recently passed away due to cancer. Her family and representatives from Eisenhower Health were present on the ice to celebrate her life and honor those who have battled cancer.

Andrew Mason, Firebirds’ Senior Director of Community Relations, expressed gratitude: “We are thrilled to be able to support a great cause and raise funds on our annual Hockey Fights Cancer Night. It is a night that is near and dear to us all. We are thankful for our fans and our community for coming together to help fight this terrible disease.”

Martin Massiello, President and CEO of Eisenhower Health, stated: “We are proud to partner with the Coachella Valley Firebirds for Hockey Fights Cancer Night, an event that unites our community in the fight against cancer. At Eisenhower’s Lucy Curci Cancer Center, we are committed to providing comprehensive cancer care and support for patients and their families. Together with the Firebirds, we hope to make a meaningful impact for those affected by this disease in the Coachella Valley.”

In addition to the fundraising efforts, the Firebirds earned a point in a shootout loss against the Colorado Eagles, extending their point streak to six consecutive games. They will host the San Diego Gulls this Friday at 7 p.m.

Tickets for the 2024-25 season are now available. Options include individual tickets as well as full season packages that offer access to special events like the 2025 AHL All-Star Classic presented by Spotlight 29.
