Lleyton Roed added another goal for Coachella Valley before Ontario responded to make it 4-2. The Firebirds then secured their win with two empty net goals late in the third period. Their powerplay went one-for-four and penalty kill was perfect on three attempts. Goaltender Nikke Kokko made 26 saves, and Coachella Valley outshot Ontario by five shots.
The game’s three stars were Oscar Fisker Molgaard, who recorded a goal and an assist; Mitchell Stephens, whose go-ahead goal came in the second period; and rookie defenseman Kaden Hammell, who contributed both a goal and an assist.
