The Coachella Valley Firebirds secured a 4-2 victory over the Calgary Wranglers on Saturday night at Acrisure Arena. The team’s first line, consisting of Jagger Firkus, Logan Morrison, and Jani Nyman, each had multi-point games that contributed to the win.

Logan Morrison opened the scoring with his 25th goal of the season in the first period. Jani Nyman extended the lead early in the second period, and Jagger Firkus added another goal for his 20th of the year midway through the frame. Calgary responded late in the second period with two quick goals but could not close the gap further.

Gustav Olofsson scored an insurance goal in the third period after receiving a pass from Oscar Fisker Molgaard. Olofsson’s third goal of the season helped secure Coachella Valley’s win.

Goaltender Nikke Kokko made 38 saves as Calgary outshot Coachella Valley 40-21. The Firebirds went 0-for-6 on power plays but successfully killed all four penalties they faced. With this result, their record improved to 29-20-5-0.

A milestone was reached by Kokko, who tied Chris Driedger for most career wins by a Firebirds goaltender with his 32nd victory.

The three stars of the game were announced: “3.) Nikke Kokko – CV: Kokko made 38 saves and picked up his 13th win of the season.” “2.)
