The Living Desert Zoo and Gardens is preparing for the return of its spring lantern festival, Glow in the Park, scheduled to start on March 20. The event is sponsored by the City of Palm Desert and Visit Greater Palm Springs.

Glow in the Park promises an immersive experience with hand-crafted lanterns that will transport visitors to various themed environments such as the pyramids of Egypt and vibrant rainforests. The event aims to provide a family-friendly atmosphere that appeals to all ages. An attendee from a previous year commented, “This is not just for children! If your ‘inner child’ is begging to come out to play, this is the place!”

Visitors can expect interactive exhibits, an Endangered Species Carousel ride, and a dance party at the Palm Garden. For adults, there are photo opportunities and artistic depictions of nature along with specialty cocktails available.

The event offers after-hours access to explore the African Safari section of the zoo, providing a chance to see desert animals like giraffes, black rhinos, and cheetahs during their active twilight hours.

Glow in the Park also features Adults-Only Nights with live entertainment and themed food and drinks on April 3. Another special event, Glow with Pride, returns on April 17 in collaboration with KGAY and the Palm Springs Animal Shelter.

Attendees can save up to $17 by bundling daytime admission with Glow in the Park tickets, which includes a free giraffe feeding during daytime visits.
