Homicide investigation underway after fatal shooting in Coachella

On Sunday, September 21, 2025, deputies from the Thermal Sheriff’s Station responded to a report of an assault with a deadly weapon at the intersection of Calle Limon and Genoa Street in Coachella. When they arrived at the scene around 11:37 a.m., they found a man lying on the ground with what appeared to be a gunshot wound. Deputies attempted life-saving measures, but the man was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Central Homicide Unit has taken over the investigation. Authorities identified the victim as Enrique Arrieta, a 51-year-old resident of Coachella. At this time, no arrests have been made and investigators are working to identify those responsible.

Officials stated that “This investigation is ongoing, and additional follow-up is being conducted. Currently, no additional details are available for release.” They encourage anyone with information about the incident to contact Investigator Adams with the Central Homicide Unit at (951) 955–2777 or Investigator A.
