Homicide investigation underway after fatal shooting in Perris

Deputies from the Perris Sheriff’s Station responded to a report of an assault with a deadly weapon at the intersection of Woodward Street and Elizabeth Street on Thursday, August 7, 2025, at 8:49 p.m. When deputies arrived, they found an adult male on the ground who appeared to have suffered a gunshot wound. Life-saving efforts were made but the victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Central Homicide Unit of the Sheriff’s Department has taken over the investigation. The identity of the victim is not being released until next of kin are notified. No suspects have been identified so far.

Authorities say that the investigation is ongoing and more follow-up will be conducted. There are currently no further details available for release.
