Deputies from the Lake Elsinore Sheriff’s Station responded to a report of an assault with a deadly weapon in the 24000 block of Orange Street, Wildomar, on Friday evening. Upon arrival at 7:17 p.m., law enforcement found two individuals with gunshot wounds: Jesus Monge, age 64, and a 56-year-old woman, both residents of Wildomar.
Paramedics pronounced Monge dead at the scene. The woman was transported to a local hospital and is currently listed in stable condition. Authorities have not released her name.
Deputies identified the suspect as David Jimenez, 33, also from Wildomar. He was located nearby and detained by deputies.
The Riverside County Sheriff’s Office – Central Homicide Unit has taken over the investigation. Jimenez was booked into the Cois Byrd Detention Center on charges of murder and attempted murder.
“The investigation is ongoing, and no further information will be released at this time,” according to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Office.
