Today, the House of Representatives passed a package of appropriation bills by a vote of 217 to 214. Congressman Ken Calvert joined a bipartisan majority in supporting the legislation, which included funding for Defense; Labor, Health and Human Services, Education; and Transportation, Housing and Urban Development. The package also provided a short-term extension of funding for the Department of Homeland Security.
President Trump has signed the funding package into law. According to Rep. Calvert, “The funding package approved by the House today and signed into law by President Trump puts an end to the current shutdown.” He added, “The passage of my FY26 Defense Appropriations bill, which was included in the package, will provide our troops with critical resources to keep America safe as well as a much-deserved pay raise. It also advances my priorities as Defense Appropriations Chairman, including funding programs that leverage American innovation, establishing a new Civil Reserve Manufacturing Network, and investing in National Guard counter-drug programs. The resources provided for Riverside County projects in this bill will help communities throughout our region. I look forward to our continued work together to advance these critical projects.”
Ken Calvert has represented California’s 41st District in Congress since 1993 (https://calvert.house.gov/about). He was born in Corona, California in 1953 and currently resides there. Calvert earned his BA from San Diego State University in 1975.
