Lake Elsinore collision leaves one dead; sheriff’s office investigates circumstances

Deputies from the Lake Elsinore Sheriff’s Station responded to a major-injury traffic collision at Via De La Valle and Plaza Valenza in Lake Elsinore on Thursday, September 4, 2025. The incident occurred at approximately 11:01 a.m. and involved two vehicles.

Upon arrival, deputies found an unresponsive individual on the ground with significant injuries. Deputies performed life-saving measures until paramedics arrived and continued attempts to resuscitate the victim. Despite these efforts, the person was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Lake Elsinore Sheriff’s Station Traffic Collision Reconstruction Team took over the investigation. According to their preliminary findings, a vehicle traveling southbound on Via De La Valle collided with the rear of a parked vehicle and then struck a pedestrian. The driver remained at the scene and is cooperating with investigators.

Authorities have not determined whether alcohol or drugs played a role in the crash. The identity of the deceased is being withheld pending notification of next of kin. The cause remains under investigation.
