Deputies from the Lake Elsinore Sheriff’s Station responded to a call on January 7, 2026, about an assault with a deadly weapon at a residence in the 400 block of Lookout Street, Lake Elsinore. According to authorities, a man inside the home was reportedly armed with both a knife and a chainsaw and was threatening family members.
When deputies arrived, they were told that the suspect exited the house holding a chainsaw but did not comply with commands before reentering the residence. All individuals inside were able to leave safely while deputies negotiated with the suspect.
The Riverside Sheriff’s Special Enforcement Bureau assisted in taking the suspect into custody. The individual was identified as Agustin Enrique Arana, age 32, of Lake Elsinore. He was arrested and booked at Cois Byrd Detention Center for assault with a deadly weapon.
Authorities stated: “This investigation is ongoing, and no further information is available. Anyone with additional information related to this investigation is encouraged to contact Deputy Sagale at the Lake Elsinore Sheriff’s Station at (951) 245–3300.”
