Lance Bass, a member of the pop group NSYNC, has been announced as the celebrity tree lighter for the Palm Springs Aerial Tramway’s Annual Tree Lighting Ceremony. The event is scheduled for Sunday, December 7, 2025, at the Tramway’s Mountain Station. Patrick Evans, Chief Meteorologist at KESQ and host of “Eye on the Desert,” will return as emcee.
The ceremony will begin at 5:30 p.m. with a performance by the Palm Springs High School Madrigal Choir. After their performance, Bass will light the Tramway’s 45-foot tree decorated with more than 4,000 LED lights. The illuminated tree is visible throughout the Coachella Valley.
Bass has had a career spanning over 25 years in entertainment as a singer, producer, and host. As part of NSYNC, he contributed to selling over 70 million records and helped release “No Strings Attached,” one of the fastest-selling albums in history. In 2023, NSYNC reunited to release “Better Place,” which debuted at number one on iTunes.
Outside of music, Bass has produced films and hosted shows and podcasts. He co-owns an entertainment venue in West Hollywood. In 2021, he and his husband Michael Turchin welcomed twins Violet and Alexander; this inspired his children’s book “Trick or Treat on Scary Street,” which became a New York Times Best Seller.
Bass is also active in advocacy work for LGBTQ+ rights and diabetes awareness and serves on the board of the Environmental Media Association.
“The tree lighting ceremony is open to the public and is included with regular Tram admission.”
