Man dies in incident on I-10 near Blythe; CHP investigates

Christian Hughes, a 33-year-old man from Huntington Beach, California, died on August 1, 2025. The incident occurred on eastbound Interstate 10, approximately 2.1 miles east of Wiley’s Well Road near Blythe in Riverside County. According to the Riverside County Coroner’s Office, the time of injury was recorded at 11:15 a.m., and Hughes was pronounced dead at 11:55 a.m. at the same location.

The California Highway Patrol – Indio is handling the investigation into the circumstances surrounding the death. The case number for this investigation is 250801IC0076.

Authorities have notified Hughes’ next of kin. Further information about this case can be obtained from the investigating agency.
