The city of Palm Springs has issued the following press release:
The City of Palm Springs invites residents to participate in an upcoming community meeting regarding a new Homeless Navigation Center to be located at 3589 McCarthy Road in the northern part of the city.
The meeting will be held from 6-7:30 p.m. on Thursday, March 3 at the James O. Jessie Desert Highland Unity Center, 480 W. Tramview Road.
The Homeless Navigation Center is being developed in partnership with the City of Palm Springs and the County of Riverside and is currently in the planning stages. Martha’s Village and Kitchen, one of Riverside County’s most respected homeless providers, will operate the facility. Resident input is desired and welcome.
Following a brief presentation regarding the plan for the facility and service programming, City officials, Palm Springs Police Chief Andy Mills, Linda Barrack, CEO of Martha’s Village and Kitchen, and Greg Rodriguez, government relations and public policy advisor from Supervisor Manuel Perez’s office, will be on hand for questions and answers.
“The new Homeless Navigation Center will be a game changer for Palm Springs when it comes to developing long-term solutions to combatting homelessness on the west end of the Coachella Valley,” said City Manager Justin Clifton. “This is an important project which will shape the future of our city for generations to come, and it is imperative we engage with residents and get as much input as possible. Everyone is invited – and we look forward to your questions and suggestions.”
