Palm Desert deputies arrest suspect in residential burglary case

Deputies from the Palm Desert Sheriff’s Station responded to a residential burglary that occurred on December 18, 2024, in Palm Desert. The incident came to their attention at approximately 11:40 a.m. while reviewing a social media application. After locating the victim’s residence in the 73000 block of Krug Avenue, deputies learned that an unknown male was captured on video surveillance entering the home and stealing an electric bicycle while residents were present.

The Robbery and Burglary Suppression Team took over the investigation and identified Alex Lopez, age 30 and a resident of Indio, as the suspect. On August 29, 2025, at about 5:00 p.m., with assistance from the city of Palm Desert Special Enforcement Team, authorities arrested Lopez near Jackson Street and Highway 111 in Indio for first-degree residential burglary. He was booked into the John Benoit Detention Center.

Authorities stated that this remains an ongoing investigation and no further details are being released at this time. “Anyone with information regarding this incident is encouraged to contact Deputy Pouchoulen of the Palm Desert Station by calling (760)-836–1600.”
