Palm Desert man arrested for elder abuse and grand theft

On August 20, 2025, deputies from the Palm Desert Sheriff’s Station responded to a report of elder abuse at a residence on Gold Canyon Drive in Palm Desert. After investigating, authorities determined that nearly $100,000 had been stolen from the victims over several years. The suspect was identified as Miguel Angel Gonzalez, age 38, of Coachella.

On December 15, 2025, investigators from the Palm Desert Sheriff’s Station and members of the Robbery Burglary Suppression Team went to a home on Calle Diego in Coachella. There they arrested Gonzalez without incident. He was booked into the John Benoit Detention Center on charges of elder abuse and grand theft.

The Riverside County Sheriff’s Office is asking anyone with information about this case to contact Investigator Grasso at the Palm Desert Sheriff’s Station by calling (760) 836–1600.
