Big changes are underway at Palm Springs International Airport (PSP), and a new online platform, Progress PSP, has been introduced to keep travelers and community members informed about these developments. The website provides updates on various airport improvement projects such as shade structures, restroom renovations, airfield planning, and sustainability upgrades.

Harry Barrett, Jr., Executive Director of Aviation at PSP, stated: “PSP is getting better every day — and our team is working hard to make sure travelers feel the difference. We have years of meaningful improvements ahead — all focused on the passenger experience, and none funded by local taxes. Progress PSP opens our doors to show what we’re building, when, how we’re funding it, and why it matters. It’s about transparency, forward momentum, and delivering world-class upgrades travelers will see and feel.”

The site details numerous projects with descriptions, costs, funding sources, and estimated completion dates. Key areas include terminal upgrades like new restrooms and terrazzo flooring; airside projects such as runway planning; baggage system expansion; future international arrivals; landside improvements including parking technology; electric buses; and a new rental car center.

Projects are categorized by their status from planned to completed to provide an overview of ongoing developments. Each project aligns with PSP’s strategy for smart growth while maintaining its desert-modern style.

Palm Springs International Airport served over 3.2 million passengers in 2024. Owned by the City of Palm Springs, it is the only commercial airport in the region and serves as a gateway to Coachella Valley and Joshua Tree National Park. Thirteen airlines offer nonstop service to 30 airports during peak season with connections available globally.
