Palm Springs earns first DEL win of the season against Rancho Mirage

The Palm Springs High School Boy’s Varisty Tennis Team defeated the Rancho Mirage Rattlers on Thursday (3/17) by a score of 11-7.

Winning Scores for the Indians in singles action came from Nico Calixto (6-0, 6-0, 6-0), Sam Hostrop (7-5, 6-1, 6-3) and Trevione Walker (6-1)

In doubles action, the team of Jamsheed Nasr and Theo Goehring took three sets (6-4, 6-4, 6-3), with Edgar Ramos and Dylan Williams contributing one set win (6-3).

Head Coach Zacc Reyes commented, “It was a great win for us.  We are very proud of the boys for fighting hard out there.  They were patient and they listened to the coaching strategies!  There is always room for improvement for us and we’re going to continue to work hard!  Let’s go Indians”.  Assistant Coach Curtis Goehring said, “It’s great to get our first league win.  Hopefully, we follow it up with many more as we work through the rest of the schedule.  We had a tough loss to Palm Desert earlier in the week, so it’s great to go into the weekend on a good note.  We have high expectations for this crew and with some more hard work in practice, we feel that we can best the other teams in our league on any given day.”

The win gives the Indians a 1-1 record in the Desert Empire League and a 3-1 record overall.  The Indians will travel to Shadow Hills for their next match on Tuesday (3/22).  The match begins at 3:15 p.m.
